🎬 Top 10 Best Indian Movies of 2025
(A Personal Opinion-Based List)
Today, I am sharing my list of the Top 10 Best Indian Movies of 2025.
Interestingly, while making this list, I realized something unexpected—I end up watching more bad movies than good ones every year.
In fact, the list of worst movies is much longer. But today, we are not talking about that. This article focuses only on the best films of the year.
A total of 18 movies were considered:
-
Top 10 Movies
-
8 Special / Honorable Mentions
⭐ Special Mention Movies
These films were overall good, with one or two aspects that stood out strongly, but unfortunately, they did not make it into the Top 10:
🎥 120 Bahadur
🎥 Dragon
🎥 Jolly LLB 3
🎥 Chhaava
🔟 Number 10 – The Diplomat (John Abraham)
This movie feels refreshing and different from the usual trend.
John Abraham does not lift motorcycles or pull cars with his hands. Instead of hero worship, the film focuses on storytelling, where the hero fits naturally into the narrative.
At one point, it genuinely makes you think:
Is this really Bollywood?
9️⃣ Number 9 – Loka: Chapter 1 – Chandra
(Along with Mohanlal’s Thudaroom)
This movie had massive hype.
When I finally watched it, I found it good, though perhaps a little overhyped.
Positive aspects:
-
A cinematic universe is being started
-
It feels different compared to others, in a good way
-
The opening twist makes you connect the dots
-
Understanding what the movie is actually about becomes an engaging experience
8️⃣ Number 8 – Thadak 2
(Siddhant Chaturvedi & Tripti Dimri)
This is a raw and hard-hitting film.
Yes, it is a remake and may not be as impactful as the original, but:
-
Certain moments stay with you
-
The ending is cleverly written
-
On the surface, it feels simple, but deeper meaning exists underneath
7️⃣ Number 7 – Kantara: Chapter 1
One of the most hyped and biggest films of the year—and importantly, it does not disappoint.
-
The film feels well-balanced
-
The climax is absolutely powerful
Some people may not like it as much, but this is my personal list. Opinions can change, and movies are not mathematics.
6️⃣ Number 6 – Stolen
A small-scale film that may have gone under the radar.
-
Set around a railway station at night
-
Revolves around child abduction
-
Two young men get trapped in an unexpected situation
The scariest part is that this can happen in real life.
A solid thriller and definitely worth watching.
5️⃣ Number 5 – Mahavatar Narsimha 🐯
The most important Indian animated film of the year.
-
A game-changer for Indian animation
-
Its impact will be seen over the next 2–3 years
-
Emotional theatre experience
This feels like the Baahubali moment for Indian animation.
There is a soft spot in my heart for animation, which is why this film holds a special place.
4️⃣ Number 4 – Vash Level 2 (Gujarati Film)
A strong continuation of Part 1.
-
Less about jump scares, more about psychological impact
-
The monster is no longer limited to a single house or family
-
Some may find the ending underwhelming
Personally, I found the ending clever, as it avoids unnecessary stretching and stays true to the story.
🏅 Honorable Mentions (Close to Top 10)
🎖 Kesari Chapter 2 – Outstanding performance by R. Madhavan
🎖 Sitare Zameen Par – Emotional and heartfelt
🎖 Metro In Dino – Flawed but beautiful; the songs grow on you
🎖 Baahubali: The Epic – Compilation version, not technically a 2025 release
🥉 Number 3 – Homebound
India’s official Oscar entry, currently in the Top 15.
-
Story of two friends
-
Extremely raw and realistic
-
Layered storytelling
-
A powerful ending that hits hard
🥈 Number 2 – Dhurandar
(Arjun Rampal, Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna)
I watched this film three times in theatres.
-
Raw and realistic storytelling
-
Scenes stay in your mind long after the film ends
-
Director Aditya Dhar has added multiple layers of meaning
The film constantly makes you ask:
Why did he do this?
🥇 Number 1 – Superboys of Malegaon ❤️
For me, this is the best movie of 2025.
-
A deeply emotional portrayal of friendship
-
The climax is overwhelming
-
It reminds us why movies are made
Cinema is not always about:
-
Perfection
-
Grandeur
-
Box office numbers
Some stories may be small and imperfect, but no one else can take their place.
🎞 Final Thoughts
This is a personal opinion-based list.
Movies are not mathematics—the heart also plays a role.
Tomorrow, I might place some films higher or lower.
That is the beauty of cinema.
